Remixing and Composing Music

Today, I am going to introduce two of my music creative practices.

The first piece that I want to introduce is a remixing work that I have done years ago.  I am a big fan of Joe Hisaishi, a Japanese composer and musical director, therefore, I chose one of his work Summer to do the remixing.

As you can see from the video, the version that I used is a piano-track-only MIDI Sequence file(it’s been too long and I couldn’t find where I downloaded this from), and I imported it into Sibelius. In the video, I showed the piano version at the beginning, and followed by the remixing work, which starts at 3:32. I added many “layers” of instruments to give a thick texture and depth to it.

The second one is a short piece and named BraveHeart. I made this piece because I got inspired from watching the anime Bleach. Nothing is easy, so we gotta be brave.

In the music world, everyone can be creative. When you hear a good song and you want to try something new on it; when you are making a video game, and need a background music for it; when you are in a bad mood, and you want to use music to express it; when you are in front of a beautiful view, and want to describe it by using music, you are being creative all the time. To me, music creating process is not like other creating processes. No planning ahead or preparing materials are needed. There is no right or wrong about your practices as well, because that’s how you describe and express yourself.
