- Theremin with phones that plays in a web browser. One hand controls the pitch, the other controls the volume. The web page could have a visual bit that interacts with the music as you play
- A phone app/web application that allows for collaborative photo editing. A google docs/Photoshop mix.
I like the timbre of Theremin sound so much personally. the question that we should ask is that “why does it have to be on a web browser?” Maybe given it is a web we can make it drastically different from what we think of theremin. Maybe even mix two ideas? (collaborative theremin? a theremin that sonify a photo? , or a photo editing with theremin gesture? I know it’sounds a bit crazy but this is probably only class that asks you to be crazy!)
BTW, I realize I once made a theremin-like instrument with two mobile phones. One used as a light emitter and the other as a light sensor (using the camera). It is hard to see in the video (and the timbre is not exactly theremin-like) but you can see the light changes detected controls the volume. The class was about “mobile phone ensemble” so we had to use phones. We named it Tai-chi theremin hoping that the performing the instrument would look like tai-chi.
