Hello world!

This semester, I am teaching a graduate seminar course on optimization in machine learning. This blog will chronicle our exploration of the literature on this topic, including the results we find most interesting, the proof techniques that we want to highlight, and questions we have (whether because we couldn’t decipher the answer from the literature or because they are truly open questions). Most posts will be co-written by the students, but I’ll open with the first post on what we covered in the first few classes.
