At the assembly line in the Boein Aircraft Company,the order in which holes are drilled into a plane hull is critical to ensure the part doesn’t warp. Currently, the workers frequently need to pause drilling to consult a paper plan listing the order in which the holes need to be drilled, which slows down the process of drilling.
DrillAR using Microsoft HoloLens is capable of is capable of providing a simple Augmented Reality UI that displays the drilling sequence on top of reality, speeding up the drilling process. Once the user places the drill on the highlighted hole, they see a progress bar until the drilling of the hole is finished. After finishing drilling a hole it will be highlighted green and the next hole to drill will be highlighted yellow.
