Fall 2023 Week 3 09/15/2023

This week, I caught up on my readings of research papers for this and presented the papers on the Monday meeting. I was also able to complete my readings for the next week and I am aiming to revisit a  paper I read before  related to tele-health to explore possible research directions. I spent some time trying to connect my earphones to lab’s desktop so I can start on unity tutorial but was unsuccessful. I will try again on the weekend or just use my laptop to watch the tutorials and lab’s desktop to follow it as an alternative.

I also had the project proposal presentation for my social computing due yesterday. This was preceded by deciding on the area of research, research questions, methodology and literature review which took some time since our group went back and forth on the aim of the study a lot.  We finally decided to study the user’s perspective of short-form content in VR headsets and in what ways can it inform responsible design choices. I am hoping that working with VR for the semester project will make me more familiar with the technology and help with future research.

For the blockchain course we are still waiting for feedback on our project proposal so there wasn’t much work outside of class.

Fall 2023 Week 2 09/08/2023

This week the course work load took a spike. I had a few assignments due for social computing and a lot of research work to identify a topic for the semester project. Since this is a group project, identifying the broader area in which all members would like to work in itself has been a challenge but we have agreed on the domain now and have to look for the exact niche we want to work on. Similarly, my other course blockchain technologies has its project proposal due tonight. This week was also focused on initial research to identify the topic of research and then drafting a project proposal for it. I now have a some readings due for Monday’s meeting that I will have to work on during the weekend.

Fall 2023 Week 1 09/01/2023

This week I read research papers in the realm of AR/VR security specifically focusing on threat models that arise due to motion data collected by both background apps and side channels. I discussed the implications and my views of the papers with Dr. David-John and Dr. Ji in our weekly meeting which was followed by Dr. David- John recommending more relevant papers that I have started reading.

Apart from that I had to present a research paper for my CSCW course. The paper was an interesting take on how teenagers use video chat applications. This was followed by another brainstorming assignment for the same course’s project. Apart from that I have been looking into the lectures of my blockchain course and trying to self-study on concepts that are hard to grasp during the class.
