About Disha

As a graduate research assistant at the Center for Human-Computer Interaction, Virginia Tech, I have obtained my Ph.D. in Individualized Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on data visualization and immersive audio. I have over five years of experience in designing, developing, and testing innovative approaches for analyzing complex datasets in 3D immersive environments using mixed reality, motion capture, and spatial audio technologies.

Research Description

My research aims to enhance the understanding and communication of data by leveraging human perceptual and cognitive abilities in a multisensory and interactive context. I have demonstrated the proof-of-concept of my approach at a space weather conference, conducted user studies with over 100 participants, and recommended design guidelines for doing data analytics in immersive environments. I have also published my work in peer-reviewed conferences and journals and received a student presentation award and an honorable mention from prestigious institutions. I am passionate about creating novel and engaging experiences for data exploration and learning that can benefit various domains and audiences.
