Dr. Sharath Raghvendra
I am a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech, based in Blacksburg, Virginia. My research interests focus on designing provable algorithms for optimization including problems related to matching and optimal transport amongst other areas.
My work has been published in top tier conferences in theoretical computer science, such as ACM SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms (SODA), International Symposium on Computational Geometry (SoCG), ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing (STOC) and IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS).
I am the co-founder of Decaltra LLC., a start-up focused on decision algorithms for transportation and have a strong interest in applying my work to real-world situations. This interest has led to ongoing and past collaborations with groups like Walmart Labs and Intel.
Prior to joining Virginia Tech, I spent two years as a postdoc in the Computer Science and Management Science and Engineering departments at Stanford working with Prof. Leo Guibas and Prof. Ashish Goel. I completed my Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at Duke University where I worked with Prof. Pankaj Agarwal. I received my B. Tech (Hons) (Computer Science) from IIIT, Hyderabad.
