Application without theory is blind, but theory without application is empty. – Kant
Dr. Sharath Raghvendra started the algorithms group at Virginia Tech in 2014. Since then, the group has nurtured more than ten graduate students who have gone on to work across industry and academia.
His research focus is on classical optimization problems that have several real-world applications in logistics, machine learning and data analysis.
The growing algorithms group has ongoing funding from NSF and has published their work in top tier venues including ACM SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms (SODA), International Symposium on Computational Geometry (SoCG), ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing (STOC), IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS) and Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS).
