Rather than using a direct manipulation technique to handle placement of the puzzle pieces, such as the virtual hand, we designed an innovative technique based on building blocks. We aimed to provide a fun and intuitive way to solve puzzles that is not possible in the physical world. Rather than having to focus on specific pieces one at a time, users instead build pieces from individual building blocks, allowing them to focus on the structure of the puzzle space.

Conferences

Felipe Bacim; Cheryl Stinson; Bireswar Laha; Doug A Bowman

Building blocks: a novel metaphor for solving 3D puzzles Conference

IEEE Symposium on 3D User Interfaces (3DUI) 2011, IEEE IEEE, Singapore, Singapore, 2011, ISBN: 978-1-4577-0063-7, (&lt;br&gt;).

Abstract | Links | BibTeX

@conference{136,
title = {Building blocks: a novel metaphor for solving 3D puzzles},
author = {Felipe Bacim and Cheryl Stinson and Bireswar Laha and Doug A Bowman},
doi = {10.1109/3DUI.2011.5759238},
isbn = {978-1-4577-0063-7},
year = {2011},
date = {2011-01-01},
booktitle = {IEEE Symposium on 3D User Interfaces (3DUI) 2011},
pages = {127 - 128},
publisher = {IEEE},
address = {Singapore, Singapore},
organization = {IEEE},
abstract = {<br>},
note = {<br>},
keywords = {},
pubstate = {published},
tppubtype = {conference}
}

Close

<br>

Close

doi:10.1109/3DUI.2011.5759238

Close

This project is based on design and implementation of an innovative solution to solve the challenge proposed by the 3DUI Contest 2011.
